Peek-A-Boo Future Shopping

Amidst all the flurry of our daily lives. Amidst all the routines we have to follow. Amidst the busy & worked out schedules we pass through, one thing that remains constant is our urge to SHOP.

Be it man or woman, be it children or elderly, be it a teenager or a senior citizen, be it day or night, be it hot or cold, be it summer or winter, be it January or May, be it India or overseas, be it rich or poor, WE SHOP.

Daily needs, luxuries, groceries, toiletries, foods, drinks,  tissue paper, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste, dental floss, t-shirt, jeans, chinos, suede, movies, music, posters, mobiles, tablets, DSLR, books, magazines.......The list goes on.

                                                                                          archives.religionnews.com

So in a nutshell, our lives are stuck and wouldn't  move forward a day if we don't shop. We shop because it is necessary, we shop because we like it, we shop to keep the economy running, we shop to distinguish ourselves, WE SHOP TO SHOP.

Firstly let me discuss what today's shopping scenario is all about, and then comes my dream.

Shopping in our times is a 5 step process.
1. We determine what we NEED.
2. We search WHERE we would get it
3. We check the PRICES, compare it.
4. We PAY.
5. and DELIVERY.

To summarize we do all the work and we get things done. Just like our ancestors said - You reap what you sow, similarly you get what you shop. We define our needs. We search for places to buy stuff. We spend our hard earned money. We pay for what we shop. And lastly we carry what we've shopped.

                                                                            Getty Images

We shop at Malls. We shop in our localities. We shop in different cities. We shop online. We shop with cash. We shop with credit cards. We shop with coupons.
The online shopping is a boom in present times. Things are changing at a pretty rapid velocity. eBay being the leader of all online markets is doing what it can, others are following. But the question we have to ask ourselves is - Is this it ?? It is the maximum that shopping can diverse to ?? It there no more scope for improvement ??

Too boring eh ??

Let me give you a peek to what 2030 holds. Put on your seatbelts and let me take you on a journey to year 2030. Hopefully we all are alive by then and the Earth doesn't end that soon.

WARNING - NOTHING MENTIONED BELOW IS FICTITIOUS. I DREAMT ABOUT IT THE OTHER NIGHT AND MY DREAMS DO COME TRUE. SERIOUSLY !!

So let me tell you what basically my dream was about. Me being a big movie buff, have been inspired by a lot of movies, Star Wars, Star Trek, Willy Wonka, Inception, Indiana Jones to name a few. So all my thoughts messed up my dream and since shopping and movies are two of the things I like most, they got mixed up. And just like powerpuff girls the chemical X in my dreams did a world of good to me.

You wouldn't believe how cool the result was.

I saw an ordering software which takes care of your needs. It was a software just like JARVIS from Iron Man. You flip your fingers here and there and a humongous screen appears infront of you. It keeps an inventory of all the things that you shop on a daily basis. It works on the EOQ  concept, which is you only get the amount of things that you actually need. No need for keeping extra stock of things, no need to
worry about ordering few days before the stock gets over. The software takes care of all that for you. Want more ?? You see a holographic 3D image of the product you need to buy. You can check out the product as if it were real without even getting up from your bed. Just a flick here just a flick there and voila, you have the product at your fingertips.
The software also calculates the utility of the product. It tells you how much you would benefit from it in daily use. So now you don't have to run to the market to get every small item. Just check it out on the software and order.

Remember holographic conversations in Star Wars. Just imagine this with products.
Checking out your favorite car would not require you to take it for a test drive.

For instance you need to buy a tshirt from any website on the world wide web. You pinch on the image, you stand and then you flick it towards yourself and you know what happens then, a laser holographic image is formed all over you and it is like you are actually wearing the tshirt. I know it sounds surreal but remember what I told you about my dreams ;)

                                                                                                        Deviantart
An interface like this is what I saw just without the Iron Man mask.

This is just the start. You wouldn't believe what is further to come. So keeping a track of our requirements and needs is taken care by the software. Now comes the important parts. How do you select a product you want to buy and how does the delivery takes place ?

In present times, basic thing is you need to search for the product you need and skip from one website to another to check the prices. But in 2030 the computers have outgrown human IQ and they can actually understand what you are looking for. Just tell them what kind of a product you need, be it designer or something innovative or something yet to be developed, it comes out with a flurry of results from different websites across the world even the prototypes and the products on which R&D is going on. Obviously eBay then also leads the world market and is the biggest shoppers paradise in the whole universe. People from different galaxies are shopping from eBay now ;)

Okay so need of the product and searching the products have been taken care of by JARVIS like softwares and eBay :)

Lets now move to delivery. This is the coolest part.
The whole world is connected by these thin magnetic wires, which are even above the height of atmosphere just so that they do not interrupt the traffic. Every city has a  main warehouse which is as big as you can imagine and all the magnetic lines are connected with each other and their respective warehouses.

Here is the image of world delivery lines connected to each other.

So what basically happens is, Suppose a guy from India buys a product from a eBay seller in US. He calls for a eBaycopter (Check below for more details) which picks up the product from his house and delivers to the warehouse in the city. From warehouse a container load of goods are dispatched to different countries at warp speed through the magnetic lines.
Guess how much time it takes to deliver a container load of goods from US to India. 7.8 seconds. YES BLOODY 7.8 seconds and your goods are delivered to your city. Now comes the eBaycopter in picture. It is a R2D2 kind of robot but also it can fly (way cooler) ;) , GPS enabled, which then takes the parcel and delivers it right to your doorsteps.
eBaycopter is just like this domicopter but way cooler and smarter.

Another technology that is still under making in year 2030 is delivery through teleportation. Remember how Willy Wonka had planned to deliver the chocolates through every ones TV sets. eBay in 2030 are on the verge of discovering the technology and therefore solving each and every problem that had existed in the history of delivery of goods.

Check out this video to see what eBay is upto.

Now comes the payment part. It is very easy since all you have got to do is swipe your card or imprint your thumb on the eBaycopter (Imprinting thumb directly connects you to your bank account and you can pay directly from there, which is also another development of future). And you own the product now.

So now to conclude what shopping is in 2030, it can be said that it would make you a lazy lad but it sure has its advantages. Starting from understanding your need to delivery and payment of product, new & never been used technologies are used. Nothing is manual and everything is done through machines and softwares which in turn achieves a six sigma rating with 0.00000001 deficiency.

Just like Isla Fischer said in "Confessions of a Shopaholic" - When I shop, the world gets better, and the world is better, but then it's not, and I need to do it again.

We all will always be the same and shopping will always be a great way to recreate our little souls.

Just another Nokia Fanboy !!

 #SMWreporter Why me??

It all started 13 years back when Nokia launched the “INDESTRUCTIBLE NOKIA 3310”. It was love at first sight. I wasn’t a teenager then that I could show off or flaunt a mobile phone. But the phone took my breath away the first time I had a chance to fiddle through it. The never ending battery life which is valued more now than ever, the amazingly amazing Snake II, the sturdy feel, the melodious ringtones were the features that caught my eye and made me a Nokia Fanboy forever.

Then came the teenage. Year 2007. Nokia was leading the boards now. The all new Nokia N95. A unique slider phone with unimaginable capabilities. A 5 mega pixel Carl Zeiss lens that could take pictures clearer then the digital camera. The phone made me fall in love with Nokia all over again.

Present – I am using the world’s most innovative smartphone. My Lumia 920, using the city lens to browse through places to visit, using the smartshoot to make things look unreal. Windows 8 compliments the phone more than any other phone. The classy colors are making life more colourful everyday, the amazing entertaining features keep me busy all day. I am connected 24/7 no matter what. Mobile phones are my life. Nokia has made it worthwhile.

Now back to the question, Why me ?

Because I am a fan. Simply a true fan among other millions who see and know how much potential Nokia carries and the effect that it can have, not on a nationwide scale but on global scale.
I have been using Nokia for more than 10 years and have switched through around 12 Nokia phones and 5 others. But the loyalty has always been towards Nokia. It breaks my heart when Nokia does not do well. It gives me goose bumps when it is about to launch a new product. It has been part of the family.

About me – I am Sankalp Sodhani. I am from India. 21 years of age. A potential #SMWreporter if you ask me ;) . I am what you would call a voracious reader, a movie buff, a sitcom freak, a social media addict, an automobile enthusiast, a traveller, a wanderer.

How I could be an asset – Human mind is a funny thing, so is mine. Ideas keep popping, but can’t be materialized due to lack of initiative on my part and partly due to lack of a platform and no audience to explain the ideas to. I believe that every one of us has an innovator inside. I would like Nokia’s help to bring that out of me. What better platform than the SMW. I could learn a lot and provide my valuable inputs if given a chance. And now that this is going international, it lures even a better part of me to try harder.

Also handling the new Nokia Lumia 1020 would be a great opportunity. Would love to go around the world and click the largest social media conference.

Ignorance not so BLISS eh!!

*This is a fictional blog.  Earth moved under Rohan's feet when the words were out of doctor's mouth and open in the air. "You are infected with human papillomavirus (HPV). You have been diagnosed with Stage 2 cancer."  Everything went black for 10 seconds and then began the flashback, the one he had only seen before in movies was happening to him now. He could see all the instances his friends, his mother, his father, his sister explaining him, scolding him, screaming at him not to use Pan masala & to curb on his drinking. It was dreadful, he could not control himself and as expected he began puling all over the doctor's cabin. Doctor who was a good family friend knew that this type of cancer could be treated in Stage 2 but there were some lessons Rohan needed to learn. He kept quiet and passed him the tissue box instead.  It was next to impossible for Rohan to believe that he had cancer and as the reality started hitting him he slowly came to realize the  things that were happening to him in the past few weeks and what he had been ignoring thinking that shit happens and carrying on with the life without giving his body the attention it needed.

It started 3 weeks ago, it was a Sunday morning and he woke up with a sore throat. The first thing that came to his mind was the party last night that he attended. He did not remember what happened after he drank 3 large bottles of strong ale. The thought that he had drank so much covered for the sore throat to him.

The sore throat didn't cure itself and even got worse after 2 days. Then started the painful coughs. Rohan blamed it all to the winters and faulty heater. His family was helpless infront of him and believed that only time  will teach him some maturity.

The sore throat and coughs were followed by a lump and a blood tinged sputum. This went on for about a week and half until the pain became unbearable and his father had to drag him to the hospital. They gave him some initial medicine and ordered some tests. But nothing changed, he was back to drinking and tobacco once the medicines did their job and numbed the pain.

Few days later the reports came and you know the rest.

SO THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS "IGNORANCE ISN'T A BLISS IF BODY SUFFERS"

An abstract of my thoughts.

Hi

This is my second attempt to writing and here I am again turning to my blogpost just to put out the frustration you can say or express the feelings.

Recently have been doing stuff I don't feel like doing, making situations worse has become a hobby and rudeness has clouded all my judgement.

Cannot get over the feeling of not knowing where life is taking me. It all seems a mess to me. All seems an abstract that is impossible to solve. Everything seems dull but still motivating enough to pursue. Everyone seems fucked up but still I cannot detach.

Reading has been long pending, watching movies has become an obsession. Slipping into a mirage of fictional creatures has taken over the sense of reality.

Winning game tickets has become an obsession. Selling them even a bigger one. Money has been good. Overflowing rather. Don't have any idea what to do with that kind of money. Still think a  serene holiday  would be a good idea. Then again family forces to get along on family getaway.

All in all it's just another brick in the wall
All in all you're just another brick in the wall
Just another blunder
Just another lousy call

What is More or Less about.

Hii,
My name is Sherlock. Sherlock Holmes.

Just kidding. I am Sankalp. A big Sherlock Holmes fan.
This is my second attempt to blogging and I seriously think that it is going to be any different than the first. Fucked up my first blog so here I am starting a new one.
